Some people enter your life because you've arranged to make content together.
And then, somewhere along the way, you forget that's even how you met.
That's Taylor.
We first spoke on X for exactly the reason you'd expect: another creator, another conversation, another potential collaboration.
We arranged for Taylor to come over to our place to film, and at that point there wasn't some grand expectation attached to it. He came over, we spent the day together, made content and got to know each other.
Simple.
Except we immediately got on.
WHEN THE VIBE JUST WORKS
There's something very easy about Taylor.
He's chilled, funny, completely himself, and from that first day there was never any awkward feeling of three people who'd met because they were supposed to work together.
We just matched vibes.
And I've realised over time how important that is.
You can plan a collaboration. You can organise the location, decide what you're going to make and work out all the practical stuff.
What you can't really organise is chemistry.
Sometimes it's there.
Sometimes it isn't.
With Taylor, it was.
So what started as one filming day didn't stay one filming day for very long.
THEN CAME SPAIN
The next chapter happened somewhere considerably sunnier.
We met again in Spain at the Grabbys, and this time it wasn't simply about arranging a shoot.
We spent a huge amount of the trip together, usually surrounded by other creators, bouncing between events, nights out, filming and whatever else was happening that day.
We did a lot of the clubbing together.
We went to events together.
We made more content together.
And we laughed. A lot.
By then, Taylor wasn't really someone David and I thought of as a creator we've collaborated with.
He was our friend who also happened to be a creator.
There's a difference.
SOME THINGS ARE STILL UNDER WRAPS
We've actually created quite a lot together now.
Different shoots. Different collaborations. Different moments.
And some of it hasn't even been released yet.
So unfortunately, there are parts of this particular Behind the Shot that are going to have to remain exactly that:
behind the shot.
For now, anyway.
What I can say is that every time we've worked together, the experience has felt easy.
And that's probably why we've kept doing it.
When you're genuinely comfortable with somebody, you're not constantly thinking about what you're supposed to be doing next. You can experiment, laugh when something goes wrong, change the plan and actually enjoy making whatever you're making.
That relaxed energy matters.
NOT JUST WHEN THE CAMERAS ARE ON
Our friendship has carried on well beyond filming.
We've been out clubbing together in London. Whenever David and I are going to be somewhere near Taylor, we'll usually message him to see if he's around.
Not because there's necessarily another collaboration planned.
Just because we want to see him.
And every time we do, it's a laugh.
I think that's probably the simplest way of explaining our friendship.
There isn't one enormous story I can point to and say, this is the moment Taylor became our friend.
It just happened naturally.
One collaboration became another.
One meeting became Spain.
Spain became London.
Filming became nights out.
And eventually somebody you originally messaged about work became somebody you're genuinely excited to see.
THE PEOPLE YOU FIND ALONG THE WAY
I've realised that one of the unexpected parts of being a creator is how many people you meet.
Obviously, not every collaboration becomes a friendship.
It shouldn't have to.
Sometimes you meet, you work brilliantly together, everybody has a good experience and then you carry on with your lives.
But occasionally you find someone who fits into your world incredibly easily.
Taylor is one of those people for us.
He's someone David and I genuinely love having in our lives. He's chilled, he's fun, we understand each other's energy and whether we're filming, at an event in Spain or somewhere in London far later at night than we probably intended, we always have a good time together.
When I started doing this, I expected collaborations.
I didn't necessarily expect some of them to give me people I'd end up calling friends.
Taylor became way more than a coworker somewhere along the way.
And I'm very glad he did.
