We met Liam Holland and Jack Davis while connecting with other creators, and there was an immediate click. They’re a couple, we’re a couple, and I always find that side of meeting other creators just as interesting as what happens when the cameras come out.
You end up talking about everything: how you started, how you manage creating together, what works in a relationship when your work is anything but conventional, and where you actually want all of this to go.
And then, obviously, there was the reason we were all in that bedroom.
The plan was a four-way collaboration. What it turned into was three of us rather enthusiastically ganging up on Jack. Things got rough, messy and very kinky, very quickly — exactly the sort of chaos Jack seemed perfectly happy to find himself in.
But strangely, one of my favourite parts of this collaboration came after the cameras stopped.
We went for drinks, ended up clubbing together around the Grabby Awards, met again the following day and have stayed in touch ever since. What started as four creators getting together for one very adult collaboration actually turned into a friendship.
And I think that’s one of the things people don’t necessarily see behind this job. Sometimes you meet people for work and discover people you genuinely click with. You compare experiences, laugh about the ridiculous situations this industry puts you in, and occasionally end up making friends in the process.
We’re already talking about meeting again.
Some things, apparently, deserve a sequel.
